Spain NOW! 2010 at the half way stage - Get ready for the last few weeks

Well, here we are. It is almost the end of October and after a brief hiatus, we are gearing up for the final few weeks of this year's Spain NOW!

We started at the same time than London Fashion Week already over a month ago and in the intervening weeks we have had our launch party with a great gig by Javier Rubio, Ione's Saizar evocative show, a roundtable with some great debate and the wonderful Taste 7 Tears contemporary dance show by Ana Lujan and the brilliant contribution by that maverick of street art Suso33. All that in less than 10 days. No wonder we had to take a little break to get ready for what is coming up over the next few weeks.

We will be warming up the engine with the FREE gig by Charades at the Slaughtered Lamb in Clerkenwell on Saturday 23rd October. With support from Hazte Lapon, Charades will present their latest album 'Revolucion Solar' received this year with great acclaim in Spain. It should really be a fun night and our partners of lafonoteca will surely put on another good show for all of us to enjoy.

Then is off to the 4th November and the private view of the visual arts exhibition 'Time Capsules' which will showcase four installation pieces by some of the hottest young visual Spanish artists based in London. This show is one of the centrepieces of this year's showcase and it will no doubt live up to expectations! So pop round our pop-up space at the Gallery Soho for the private view and enjoy the vibe.

The next day 5th November is off to south London and The Cinema Museum in Kennington. Located in the old Lambeth workhouse where Charles Chaplin lived for a while as a child, we have prepared a really juicy evening of performances and music. Those of you who decide to join us on that evening, be prepared for a few surprises at the hand of Flashing Bodies and their Action Number 5 'Arrebato Picante'. Let's just say that clothes will be optional in their very own screening room (for those of you old enough to remember, it is a 'Dos Rombos" (Two diamond shapes) performance for the camera... (Two diamond shapes were the sign for adult material in Spanish television up until the mid-eighties!).

On a sweeter note, Wild Honey last year's music sensation in Spain, will present their latest album 'Epic Handshakes and a Bear Hug' coinciding with its UK release.

And if that wasn't enough the legend that is Victor Coyote will regale us with his 'Ruido Bajito' an irreverent and surreal short piece of music, puppetry and song, which will show several times throughout the evening so no one misses a thing. You'll be fools to! The event is FREE and in aid of The Cinema Museum, a treasure trove of movie memorabilia well worth knowing and which is embarking on a fundraising campaign to secure the future of this wonderful building for the future. So we hope to see you there. You'll find details of the event on the programme pages of this website.

The following Monday 8th November is back to our pop-up space for an intimate evening of literature 'in collaboration'. Silvia Terron and Nacho R Piedra and Susana Medina and Derek Ogbourne come together in a seamless landscape of words, images and sound. Those of you with an interest in literature and new media cannot miss this gig. Soul food comes to mind...

Finally on 12th November we will play host to that brilliant combo Klaus&Kinsky at Cargo in Shoreditch. This gig promises to be very popular so hurry and get your tickets now! You'll find a link to do just that on this website.

In the next few days we will be posting podcasts for our roundtable as well as videos for the showcase and pics, pics and more pics of the showcase this far. So keep them peeled for further updates of our programme as it unfolds in the next few weeks.
