PRESS RELEASE

SPAIN NOW! 2012

4TH OCTOBER – 3RD DECEMBER 2012, LONDON

Spain NOW! , the annual season of contemporary Spanish culture in London will take place over 8 weeks from October 4. Now in its 4th year, Spain NOW! will bring to London a snapshot of the latest creative output of Spain, featuring a series of exhibitions, concerts, talks and performances across London.

Spain NOW! will again take place all around London with a variety of exhibitions, events and performances, from DJ sessions to roundtables. Some of the venues this year include The Hospital Club, the Crypt Gallery, Cinema Lumière, the Cockpit Theatre, Ibérica Marylebone and Canary Wharf, or the versatile Spain NOW! pop-up space at the Gallery Soho. Art, music, architecture, dance, literature, drawing or cuisine will be present, reflecting what’s best (and what’s next) in the artistic output of the Spanish art scene this year.

Spain NOW! will join forces with the London Spanish Film Festival to present two very special films : “Los cuadernos de Barro” by Isaki Lacuesta, showing the creative process of painter Miquel Barceló, and “El Bulli: Cooking in Progress”, on the culinary genious of Ferran Adrià. In fact, gastronomy and the new Spanish cuisine will have a special presence in this year’s programme, in collaboration with chefs like Nacho Manzano among others.

As every year, the multidisciplinary approach of Spain NOW! will create spaces for interaction, collaboration and dialogue. This year, the music programme will build bridges between Spanish and British bands, creating synergies and sharing not only sounds but also words, with five days of gigs and talks in collaboration with A Coruña festival 981. Performing arts will also have a strong presence with Camille Hanson’s “Tierra de Silencio” (Land of silence), and a special collaboration between dancer Avatara Ayuso, and artist Antonio R. Montesinos. Spain NOW! will also pay special attention to contemporary Spanish drawing, with a comprehensive exhibition at the Crypt Gallery.

But this is only a small taste of what Spain NOW! will bring to London this autumn.

Please keep checking our website over the coming weeks for a full programme of events of this year’s Spain NOW!
