Charades + Hazte Lapón

How would it be the pop and psychedelia of The Beach Boys, Os Mutantes or Love in the year 2010? Charades have the answer.

CHARADES

After some months diving in their own revolution and the quest for total freedom, Charades have come back, proving that the promises made in “En Ningún Lugar” (BCore, 08) are true and strong. After the great response that album had, with tons of excellent reviews, international releases and dozens of gigs, this is one of the most awaited albums of the year. But nobody should expect the formula to be repeated; “Revolución Solar” sounds more Charades-like than ever, but in a radically different and new way as we had never heard before.

They will have support from Hazte Lapón, a band formed in Madrid in 2007. Their members are Manuel González Molinier (Voices, guitar, Lyrics), Jose Antonio Ayuso (Guitars), Saray Botella (keys, voices), Jesús Rodriguez (Bass) and Miguel Valenciano (Drums). They combine the humor and sarcasm of their lyrics with a wide variety of music styles, including raw rock and roll, flamenco, punk, bossanova or afrobeat to get an original blend of pop music.

Charades – The interview!

How would you define yourselves?
As a group of friends doing what they like.

What do you do?
We do nice melodies wrapped in curious rhythms and surrounded by an enveloped atmosphere.

What can the audience expect from your collaboration with Spain NOW!?
We hope to do the best we can, make the audience have a good time We would also like to make them curious about other music bands from Spain.

Is this your first show in the UK?
Yes, it’s our first show in London and we are very excited about it. We have also played in the US and would love to tour other European countries.

What can you say about the current state of Spanish culture within your field? What other emergent Spanish artists can you recommend for those who enjoy your work?
These are exciting times for Spanish music. There are many people doing very interesting things: bands, labels, fanzines, illustrators, writers, photographers… all with very cutting-edge and original work. We like Margarita, El Guincho’s new record, Lidia Damunt or Prisma en Llamas.
